Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
This OFQUAL regulated qualification develops practical teaching skills and prepares teachers to work in a wide range of contexts. The objective of this qualification is to confirm occupational competence in a teaching role within the workplace.
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training replaces the ‘Continue to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector’ (CTLLS) qualification.

How this course is structured
The Award in Education and Training qualification consists of 5 mandatory and 5 optional units:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Delivering education and training
- Using resources for education and training
- Assessing learners in education and training
- Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training
- Candidates need to achieve a minimum of 15 credits from the range of optional units.
Entry Criteria
All trainee teachers joining this qualification programme should undertake an initial assessment of skills in English, Mathematics and ICT. They should record their development needs and, where applicable, agree an action plan to address them. If trainees join the qualification programme having already undertaken an initial assessment of their English, Mathematics and ICT skills, their record of development needs and any previous action taken to address them should be reviewed and updated as required.
Learners will be asked to demonstrate or provide evidence that they meet the admission requirements and they must be 19 or over.

Certification
After successful completion, students will achieve a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training qualification awarded by NCFE. Candidates must gain a minimum of 36 credits to achieve this qualification.
